Artistic Producer / "Father Flynn" - With over 35 productions to his credit, Michael has worked with many Newfoundland and Labrador theatre companies including Beothuck Street Players and Spirit of Newfoundland. His Newfoundland theatre credits include One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Blood Brothers, Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, The Lonesome West, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline and Art (which garnered him a Best Supporting Actor award at the 2002 Newfoundland and Labrador Drama Festival). In Toronto, Michael played lead roles in such productions as Evita and Cabaret. Michael was also cast in the Canadian premiere of Urinetown, directed by John Rando, the Tony Award winning director of the Broadway production. This CanStage show also swept the Dora Awards in 2005, taking 6 awards, including Outstanding Production of a Musical. Michael has worked on many independent short and feature films (one of which, Obsession, he co-wrote, co-produced and starred in). In 2007, he appeared on the History Channel series, Zero Hour - North Hollywood Shootout. His commercials for the Canadian Association of Optometrists and Canadian Women's Foundation are in rotation across Canada.

Michael also brings his theatre and film production experience to Burning Boat, having directed and produced theatre in Newfoundland since 1993. While serving as President of Beothuck Street Players from 1999 - 2002, Michael assisted in producing such shows as Evita and Graceland while actively involved in maintaining the theatre company's web presence and marketing initiatives. In 2002, Michael served as Festival Co-Chair for the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Drama Festival. While preparing marketing strategies and designing promotional materials for the festival, Michael enjoyed the community building work of creating partnerships with the corporate community. Director / Designer - Clar's credentials defy logical word limits for a theatre biography. He is an icon of Newfoundland and Labrador theatre … I know he would never let me say that. So, knowing Clar's modesty, I had to at least try to search for other descriptors. I was going to use the term "Veteran" ... it works ... it implies service, valour. I was going to use "Royalty" but Clar would probably kill me! I wonder if he would accept "Knight of Newfoundland Theatre Realm" … Sir Clar Doyle. I guess he will have to live with "Icon" ... some one or thing universally recognized to be representative of something. And that something, in this case, is the theatre of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Clar Doyle has a unique vision for creating theatre, from designing and directing his own scripts to bringing new life to drama classics. With countless awards to his credit, he has directed some 20 plays such as Blood Brothers, Evita, and Jesus Christ Superstar and Death of a Salesman (which garnered him an award for Best Direction at the 2003 Newfoundland and Labrador Drama Festival). Clar has designed 40 plays including Westside Story, Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Toward the Somme as well as The Beauty Queen of Leenane and The Lonesome West for which he won consecutive awards for Best Set Design at the 2000 and 2001 Newfoundland and Labrador Drama Festival. Clar has written over 15 produced plays including Not Recommended For Children, Yesterday's Men, and Out From Here which garnered him top honors in the 1997 Newfoundland and Labrador Playwrighting Competition. And these are really only his achievements since the 1990's … he refuses to talk about what he was up to before that, but the stories are legend. Of course, none of this even touches on his acting credits in a dozen productions or more. With retirement from Memorial University and more time on his hands these days, one can only imagine what theatre magic lies in store.

Co-Producer / "Sister James" - Virginia was born in the thriving metropolis of Kingston, Ontario. Having lived and worked in Ireland where she became involved in the Galway Youth Players, Virginia relocated to Toronto where she studied acting at the Players Academy. Working with the Toronto Irish Players, she performed in James Joyce's The Dead. Virginia has also written, directed and acted in two short films. The first, Boots, was inspired by a story about mismatched footwear with a tragic ending and the second, Obsession, is a glimpse into one man's bizarre baby embued world. Virginia is now working on a feature length film about a young woman's search for truth in a world manufactured by lies. "Sister Aloysius" - Jacinta is well-known to Newfoundland and Labrador theatre and music audiences. Actively involved with Beothuck Street Players since their first production in 1995, she has given us memorable performances in such roles as Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Maisie Madigan in Juno and the Paycock, Mrs. Lyons in Blood Brothers, just to name a few. In 2000 she won a Best Actress award for her work in The Beauty Queen of Leenane at the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Drama Festival. At the same festival in 1996 and 2002, she was awarded Best Supporting Actress for roles in Juno and the Paycock and Drink The Mercury. Jacinta balances her passion for acting with her passion for teaching students of music and theatre arts and has mounted critically acclaimed musical theatre productions at Brother Rice and Gonzaga High Schools.

Stage Manager - Jennifer has been a music teacher in the St. John's and surrounding area since 1996 and as of February of this year has been the Fine Arts Itinerant for the Eastern School District. Behind the scenes, her theatre experiences include technical assistant for Elephant Song(2008) and musical director and conductor for Pippin in Okayama, Japan (1996). While she has spent years directing, co-writing and producing cabarets and performance opportunities for her students at school, Jennifer's only venture on the stage was as a high priest in Beothuck Street Players' production of Jesus Christ Superstar(2006). Jennifer is thrilled to have the opportunity to be stage manager for "Doubt" and has thoroughly enjoyed working with such a great cast and crew.

"Mrs. Muller" - We are proud to introduce Grace Okwera who joins Burning Boat Theatre for her first appearance on stage. A student of English Literature and a member of a number of church choirs (including Pius X in St. John's), Grace has had a great love of the arts from an early age. Born in Uganda, she worked in Swaziland for 4 years as a teacher before coming to Canada in 1993. Now a Canadian citizen, Grace teaches ESL to new immigrants at the Association for New Canadians.
